東京株式市場では、日経平均が小幅続伸。サブプライム問題が最悪期を脱したのではないかとの期待感や債券先物売り／株式先物買いポジションの巻き戻しで、一時は１万４０００円台を回復した。みずほフィナンシャルグループ<8411.T>が一時ストップ高するなど、銀行株への買い戻しも強まった。しかし、高値警戒感から１万４０００円前後では戻り売りや利食い売りが出て日経平均は押し戻された。売り買いが交錯したことで、東証１部売買代金は２兆８２６２億円に膨らんだ。
東証１部騰落数は値上がり１１５４銘柄に対し、値下がりは４７８銘柄。変わらずは８７銘柄だった
